Pandraah August: On this day, last year, Renu and Kishor Babani set a wonderful precedent in the Club by celebrating Independence Day. They had brought along little paper flags and holding them, we assembled after the exercises (see post of August 15, 2011) on that rain-soaked morning to sing the national anthem. It was a short and simple ceremony, which went down very well with everyone.
This year too, it was the Babani couple who brought the Indian tricolour to the Garden. But for a change, we had two charming guests – Nahid Khan’s grandchildren, Alviya and Eram. The cute little girls held the flag (in pic) while all of us gathered around and sang Jana Gana Mana… in chorus. Like last year, not much ceremony – but it left us all in a happy, feel-good state.
Amidst this celebration, comes the news of Hari Naraiyani (left pic) being critically ill once again. Last evening he was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital (13th floor) with high fever and bouts of breathlessness. This time the family did not take chances, given his recent history of illness (post of August 9) and advancing age. His daughter and son-in-law are said to be looking after him.
Let us all pray for Hari-bhai’s recovery and good health.
Renu Babani's PICSPEAK:
* What a joy to celebrate today as one! Jai Hind!!!
* "I'm trying hard to keep up my spirits... I don't know what else to do?"
Harish Wadhwa:
Get well soon, dear Hari-bhai.
