Lazy Weekend

After a fairly busy week, we got to let our hair down today. Being a Saturday, everyone was in a relaxed mood and went through their motions of exercising with minor diversions here and there. As ringmaster, Nahid Khan kept up her non-stop banter – often breaking into hilarious English. Arora was equally upbeat during the laughter sessions and for a change, did not holler at those taking liberties or talking among themselves.
Someone said it was the Parsi New Year and we laughed extra. Then Santosh Tyagi served her breakfast jokes and we laughed more. Thereafter Mrs Harbans Singh narrated a Santa-Banta joke (top pic) and we laughed still more. In fact, this was the first time she had narrated a joke in the Club and as everyone noted, the lady sure has incredible style!
Before long, action shifted to the chai shop, the happy hunting ground for the Badmaash Company’s (bottom pic) badmaashis – just that these gentlemen have sobered down ever since ring leader Kishor Babani has rationed his so-called X-rated jokes. These days they talk of weighty issues, ranging from women and movies to technology and state of the nation. Whatever it be, the morning is never complete without this half-hour ‘super- enlightening’ session.
