Looks like the post-exercise jokes’ narration will soon be replaced by singing sessions. So what if none of us can sing to save our lives? The way we brayed, croaked and cawed this morning would put the entire animal kingdom to shame. But that’s where the fun lies, especially when everything is impromptu and unscripted.
Harish Wadhwa started it all when he caught snatches of some popular ditties playing on Kishor Babani’s mobile and started singing along while the exercises were on. Some feigned annoyance but everyone was amused. So when the prayers were over, Monthi Serrao prodded him to sing aloud and much to our surprise, she offered to join him. “Saath-saath gayenge,” she promised.
Emboldened by her encouragement, Harish belted out Kishore Kumar’s Yeh Shaam Mastani from Kati Patang and before long, one by one, everyone joined him (pics alongside). Kishore Kumar, R.D.Burman, Anand Bakshi and Rajesh Khanna would have been turning in their graves on hearing this madcap chorus; but so what? It was an electrifying performance!
Everyone had a blast. Those who could not sing, just clapped and laughed along. Khatoon Baig, for one, was so taken in that while laughing through her tears, insisted that we sing like this every morning. That’s happiness.
“From tomorrow, we will practice a new song every day,” Monthi announced.
Dilip Babani: Harish-bhai and Bose Babu, both of you are genious in singing. All members liked it. Really, it was fun. Why not we have this kind of fun every day? Arora-ji and Shekhawat-ji really missed the lovely time we had this morning.
Bhaswati Bose:
Congratulations to Harish-bhai on his new job. Like court singers of Emperor Akbar's time, Big Laaf shall now have its own club singers to entertain us every morning. Hurrray!
Srichand Arora (from Singapore):
Yaar, during this leave from Big Laaf, I am missing so many items (songs). Anyway, keep it up!
Harish Wadhwa:
* Had heard of A,B,C,D and E minor, but nice to see a new note called 'L minor'... Laaf in minor tone and volume?
* Bhaswati-ji, I got so scared that I have run away to Cochin for a week... LOL
* Arora-sa'ab, we will catch up on a dinner at your place. Awaiting invitation soon to enjoy bhabhi-ji ke haath ka khana and Singapore ki recipe ka swad.

Superb blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I'm hoping to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a
paid option? There are so many options out there that
I'm totally overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Appreciate it!
