We had spoken too soon. Just when we thought we were over and done with this year’s monsoon (see post of October 1), the rains have struck with renewed force. And so we were back to the days of low attendance, exercising inside the Chinese Hut, huddling under umbrellas, dodging potholes and puddles…
India’s humiliating exit from the T20 World Cup last night only added to the sense of gloom. Cricket junkies like Bapu Rane and Vijay Bhatt refused to even discuss the match -- as though they were in mourning. Silently they sat with the crowd inside the Chinese Hut, staring into space while it continued to rain outside.
Shekhawat tried to bring some cheer by mobilizing support (pic above) for the excursion scheduled next March (see post of September 28). He went around explaining why, before meeting the Maker, it was imperative to go on the trip. Here he can be seen trying to humour Nahid Khan and Lakshmi inside the Chinese Hut, umbrella firmly above his head. Someone needs to tell him that it does not rain inside the Chinese Hut.
Harish Wadhwa:
* The picture today is as as gloomy by colours as the weather outside. Had a nice tea with Badmaash Company but missed the kingpin, Kishor-da. I saw him trotting away with Renu-ji, but did not join us for tea. Thanks Renu-ji, for your kind advice this morning.
* Missed Mrs Bose today, Dilip-bhai and Kajal-ji and Grover-sa'ab. Bhaswati-ji, I hope you did not mind the words of an MCP on the blog.
