Warm Sendoff

Hari Singh Shekhawat was given a warm sendoff this morning – but not before members extracted a commitment from him to line up the next picnic for Lonavala the moment he returns. He leaves Bombay this evening to spend Dussehra with friends and relatives at his village in Rajasthan and would be back not before October 27.
Shekhawat explained that he had been in regular touch with the guest house in Lonavala and was told that the renovation work there would last till the month-end. In his estimate, the earliest we could go on the picnic would be November 3, provided of course, the rooms of the guest house were ready by then.
Nevertheless, he stuck to his resolve on the March 2013 trip to Vaishno Devi, Himachal Pradesh, etc. and appealed to all members to make up their mind before his return so as to avail of early bird benefits offered by airlines on flight bookings. He said that Arun Patil (left) was being entrusted with finalizing the itinerary for the tour since he is familiar with the tourist spots in the region. As a unit member during the filming of 1942: A Love Story, Arun had toured all of Himachal Pradesh extensively.
The ladies had a go at ribbing Shekhawat on his fixation about a resident chudail (female apparition) in his village and exhorted him to bring her to Bombay this time. The problem about this entity (by whom Shekhawat swears) is that it is neither male nor female. “It is both,” Shekhawat insists.
Amid the mirth and hilarity, Monthi Serrao (right) revealed her mischievous side. She was seen struggling to keep a twisted old shrub in the Garden upright and summoned Tara Chand, of all the people, for help. Obediently, this mild-mannered gent went up to investigate and at her bidding, held on to the shrub firmly. Suddenly Monthi abandoned everything and walked away telling Tara Chand: “Just keep on holding like this till the evening!”
The man was at a complete loss of words.
Harish Wadhwa:
Shekhawat-ji, don't forget your 'dagger' talisman! Actually you don't need to go to your hometown to meet the chudail. She will appear out of anywhere, anytime to meet you, should you remember or call her dil se. And if you look around, you will find no shortage of chudails in Mumbai itself. They appear in all shapes and sizes and forms... They are omnipresent and omnipotent!
Renu Babani's PICSPEAK:
* Off and away, a well-needed break!
* I always enjoy some fun, and why not?

Shekhawat-ji don't forget to the wear the 'Dagger' like last time, before you visit your hometown. You don't have to go to your hometown to meet the 'chudail'. She can appear out of nowhere, to meet you, if you remember or invite her - 'dil se'. Actaully if you just look around, there is no shortage of them in Mumbai. They come in various shapes, body sizes, 'roop'(forms) and are omnipresent.
