A Daughter Drops By

Harsha returned to the Garden after two years. The last we had seen her was on February 2011 when her parents, Renu and Kishor Babani hosted a huge celebration (see post of February 4, 2011) in the Chinese Hut to introduce the charming young lady with her husband, Avinash to the Club. The newly-wedded couple had then come in from Canada for the occasion.
This time around, Avinash could not make it here. But it was Harsha’s birthday today and what better occasion could there be for the proud parents to host another big bash in the Chinese Hut? The place was choc-a-bloc with guests (lead pic) which included members from the ‘yoga group’, while the Babanis and their extended family of the Menezes were also present in full strength (bottom pic). As usual, we did our little numbers of clapping and cheering and raising that extra laugh after the exercises, before everyone went up to individually wish and bless the birthday girl.
On behalf of the Club, a bouquet was presented (pic above) to her by the five senior-most members present – Sitaram Hivarkar, Srichand Arora, Hari Singh Shekhawat, Santosh Tyagi and Harbans Singh. This was Mrs Singh’s idea (remember, she was the one to have presented Harsha with a bouquet the last time) but it was Arora who had to set out in the early morning darkness to source the fresh bunch of flowers.
Someone called for tea and with boxes of Camy’s sweets and salties doing the rounds, the party got rolling. This was the second back-to-back celebration after the New Year’s double treat yesterday. Let’s see, what the morrow holds for us!
