A Correction

Shekhawat is told of the Byculla Zoo picnic plans
A correction is in order. It was not Shekhawat’s younger brother who had passed away in his village, as was earlier reported in the blog on March 24 (see post). It was the brother’s wife. Shekhawat’s brother is in good health and physically fit. The error is deeply regretted.
“She was barely 45,” Shekhawat informed upon resuming his Garden routine today. “She had just stepped out of the house when she suffered a massive heart stroke and fell down. An ambulance was called but before she could be taken to Jaipur, she had another stroke. They should have given her an emergency injection of Rs5,000 on the way. That could have saved her... By the time the doctors could attend to her, she suffered a third stroke in the hospital and that proved fatal. It was all over in one-and-half hours.”
Shekhawat looked distraught and out of his depth. More worryingly, he complained of acute breathlessness and chest congestion, aggravated by the fatigue of travel. But he kept a brave front and with Razia Khan and others doing their best to cheer him up, he could somehow get into the swing of things.
Srichand Arora and Dilip Babani also did their bit to lift his spirits by suggesting we set out for a ‘day picnic’. That was music to the ears and instantly brought a twinkle in Shekhawat’s eyes as he started inquiring where we must go. Dilip proposed Byculla Zoo – a place Shekhawat didn't know existed. But good counsel prevailed eventually as he was told not to be in a hurry and attend to his health first.

Byculla is such an interesting place. The Byculla Zoo has some of the rarest trees to be seen in Mumbai. It also houses the Jijamata Museum, which is equally worth visiting.
