No, Not Again!

Hari Naraiyani does a Teja Singh
Hari Naraiyani came visiting today. He had long sold off his property in Lokhandwala and moved to Vasai. Once in a while he drops by to spend time with his son at Dheeraj Heights and this is when he visits us also for old time’s sake.
But that’s beside the point. What created a stir this morning was when Naraiyani settled in a chair next to Ved Prakash Grover, the way Sardar Teja Singh did yesterday. Within moments, panic seized the group as Naraiyani slumped on the chair, eyes closed, head tilted to the right -- exactly in the same manner as Teja Singh did (ref yesterday’s post). The exercises were on.
“Is he alright?”
Mandeep Kaur (in green) lectures on brahmavidya
the ladies cried, obviously alarmed. “Oh my gawd!” Banoo Apa exclaimed. “Remove that chair right now.”
“But is he breathing?”
“Whoever sits on that chair next to Grover collapses in no time!” observed a smart alec.
“What did you do to him?” Srichand Arora looked accusingly at Grover. The latter looked flustered trying to explain that it was “just a coincidence” that history should repeat itself so soon today. Naraiyani was still lost to the world.
Bihari Milwani, standing closeby in the same position as yesterday, tried to distance himself.
Arora and Harish Wadhwa call on Arun Patil in hospital
But Jagmohan Papneja quickly caught on. “Don’t you now even think of driving that red car of yours again into the Garden,” he warned Milwani.
By then we had reached the Lion and Lioness Laughter round and in the ensuing commotion, Naraiyani’s eyelids fluttered and he sat upright. We heaved a sigh of relief and raised an extra laugh to celebrate Naraiyani’s ‘awakening’.
Unknown to us, there was one witness to this high drama. As if on cue, Mandeep Kaur introduced herself as a practitioner of ‘brahmavidya’ and gave us an impromptu lecture on keeping our nerves in check. She advocated a yogic exercise of “spiritual breathing and meditation” and offered to teach us its nuances should we call on 98671 83305.
While on health and medical matters, there’s Arun Patil recuperating in DNA Hospital, Kandivali (ref post of May 2) with his diabetic foot. He says he is “70 per cent fit” and since yesterday, has been able walk also – though his blood sugar is still fluctuating. He has to wait for it to stabilize before getting a discharge. That apart, the biopsy report from Hinduja Hospital is yet to come in.
Bihari Milwani:
Hari-bhai was probably pretending to lose consciousness in order to check whether we still loved him, now that he has ceased to be a member. Or possibly he had come to see if Shekhawat had succeeded in getting a seventh saali and if so, to congratulate him!
