Eager beavers checking the b'day calendar

2017 came to a close with a predictable bang. It was Siba Prasad Maitra’s birthday celebration today. He was ‘supposed' to be born tomorrow, but such was our eagerness to make a feast of it that we could not wait that long. Moreover, tomorrow happens to be Sunday.
Maitra did not disappoint. He came loaded with goodies like samosas, cupcakes, cake toast

and chaklis – to be downed with hot tea – and treated us also to a variety of songs,

Treating us to some beautiful Hindi and Bengali numbers

in Bengali and Hindi. We reciprocated with a chorus of the birthday song, clapping and dancing, raising a fourth laugh after the exercises and by presenting him his birthday calendar. Bijoy Gupta belted out a cheesy yarana song and before long the train of roses began...
