A Special Moment

Angad Singh (c) receives his calendar from Yusuf R and Shekhawat
Lt Col Angad Singh (retd) had made a special request some time back. He wanted his ‘birthday calendar’ in advance as he plans to leave for Mohali, his home-town this month-end and isn’t quite sure if he would be able to take time out for another visit to Mumbai around April 10.
“If possible, could you please arrange a special

calendar for me before I leave?” he said.
That someone should attach so much importance to what is no more than a token gift to all members of the Club was good enough reason to advance the presentation of Angad Singh’s calendar. And in deference to his seniority, we
Happy Birthday, Dilip Babani
had both our chairmen, Yusuf Rassiwala and Hari Singh Shekhawat jointly doing the honors this morning. It had to be special moment not only for us, but also for the recipient, who would be turning 84 this April.
Significantly, a calendar was also due for Dilip Babani, whose birthday it was today. But since he had more pressing domestic engagements, he gave the Garden a miss. He had told us earlier that he needed to drop his daughter at the airport and would rather celebrate his birthday a day later. Nevertheless, we raised a fourth laugh for him (as per our custom) this morning and wished him many happy returns of the day. The birthday calendar will have to wait for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Naseem Khan made an appearance this morning with a box of revdis – a seasonal tidbit meant to counter the winter chill. It was good to see her adjusting well to the pacemaker implanted recently for her heart. In fact, she has never looked so charged and youthful earlier.

Bihari Milwani:
Despite being a special request from Angad Singh, we tried to remain faithful to the date. We gave him his calendar on the 10th day of the month -- just that, instead of April it had to be January.

Lt Col Angad Singh (retd):
Thanks a lot for the kind gesture. The birthday card shall remind me of the time I spend in the company of members of the Club.
