Rehearsing the group dance |
A choreographer, for one, has for long been lending her services free of charge for the dance numbers. Likewise, two reputed make-up professionals have been engaged to work on the look and get-up of our artistes.
Technical support is also coming gratis, courtesy Harish Wadhwa; but for hiring a counted few dresses, we are having the pay for the basics.
Clearly, the preparations have hit feverish pitch. Rehearsals are simultaneously continuing and for the backroom boys, there are a variety of other last-minute jobs that require immediate attention -- rigging together a reliable sound system, printing posters, preparation of dinner coupons, finalizing the guest list, etc. etc.
Given our limitations, we are putting our best foot forward, leaving nothing to chance. It is for the first time that an event of this nature is being put up under the Club banner. So we are proceeding with a good deal of trepidation, a sense of adventure and above all, the joy of working hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. It is a learning experience. That, by itself, is no small celebration.
Lt Col Angad Singh (retd):
The best part is that this is a voluntary job. Whoever is assigned a task is doing it willingly and without any grudge. This augurs well. As they say, 'Well begun is half done'. We are sure the Annual Function will be a well-celebrated event.
