Heavenly Weather

Kiran Prakash clicked this beautiful picture to capture the mood of the morning
The white flowers on the gnarled tree close to where we exercise looked different. The hibiscus flowers in the bushes looked brilliant red.

Every leaf, every blade of grass… even every bench in the rain-washed Garden was no longer the same.
Everything had changed after the so-called ‘pre-monsoon shower’ last night. Our woes from weeks of sultry weather and stifling mugginess had disappeared and we were treated to a refreshingly cool and pleasant morning with a gentle breeze sweeping across the Garden.
Selfie time: The five Pandavs and one woman
The sun did not emerge from the clouds today. There was no perspiration. No parched throats...
This was nature at its best -- perhaps celebrating World Environment Day.
Sadly, there were many who stayed indoors and missed out on this heavenly weather. We were just six – five men and one woman for the exercises. A bemused Fahmida Khan watched us from a distance and after we were done, she came close and remarked cheekily: “I was wondering what you five Pandavs and one woman were doing together so early in the morning. This is no time to break into sweat. You ought to be celebrating the first rains of the season… probably go on a picnic.”
Last night’s rain had come as a surprise. It was scheduled to arrive on June 8 and the weather bureau had predicted a “wet weekend”, marking the onset of monsoon this year. But then, it had also rained, though sporadically, a couple of days back. Let us look forward to more such pleasant surprises and to happier mornings ahead.

It is quite nice to note that there were five men and a woman to celebrate the change of weather. This is a good sign. Soon there will be more to enjoy. It has rained in North India as well and it is a welcome gesture of the nature.

Dilip Babani:
Very nice selfie. All look great.
