Ratified

Siba Prasad Maitra and Arun Patil (ext rt) address Club members
The Club today ratified the decisions of the Managing Committee at its meeting last Saturday (ref post of August 4). Siba Prasad Maitra and Arun Patil, in their capacity as president and secretary respectively, read out the minutes and explained the implications of every resolution to all present.
As mentioned earlier, the highlights of the meeting centered around operating the Club’s bank accounts, re-admission of members who had left Big Laaf (voluntarily, or

otherwise) and the fund allocations on major calendar events during the next 12 months. It was pointed out that the budget far exceeds the cumulative receipts from annual membership renewals/ subscriptions this year.
“We shall have to devise ways and means to bridge this gap,” Maitra said.

Of particular interest to members were two items: one, the Annual Day Function on December 8, 2018 and two, Sports Day at Borivli National Park on February 2, 2019. “I am telling you all in advance to be present for these two events without fail,” Maitra urged. “Please make a note of the dates in your diaries.”
Meanwhile, a tiny white kitten kept us on tenterhooks throughout the exercises as it tried to dislodge itself from the high branches of a flowering tree close by. Two stray dogs had attacked it out of the blue and in sheer panic, the kitten darted up the nearest tree, only to find itself trapped in a maze of branches.
The dogs were shooed away, but for nearly an hour, the little feline struggled, meowing helplessly and slipping back and forth on a wet branch, unable to extricate itself. No manner of intervention helped. It remained lodged in its precarious perch far beyond our reach. Khatoon Baig then hit upon an idea. Soon after the exercises, she went out and got some milk in a plastic platter. With the help of the Garden watchman, she finally managed to get the kitten down. We heaved a sigh of relief.

Lt Col Angad Singh (rtd):
All the young people must remember the important events and be present and participate in them. The older lot may like to tie knots in their hankies to remind them of the events.

Karun Sharma:
It is good to observe the proactive approach of our new president. He has clearly shown his professional competence in handling this responsibility. The picnic on the 13th indicates a positive flow from the new management team.

Bihari Milwani:
Committee gave us the dates and expects us to make a note in our diaries. But they did not tell us the time. Is it a full-day event inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Siba Prasad Maitra:
Thanks Karun-ji. But please remember anything we do is a team effort and not of an individual. So credit goes to Mr Bose and Mr Patil as well. And thanks Mr Milwani for the excellent idea of breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will review your suggestion.
