Party Time

Zarina Khan (c) invites the Club to her birthday party tomorrow
Suddenly we find ourselves confronting an avalanche of parties. Tomorrow, Zarina Khan will be treating us for her birthday – a celebration that had to be deferred by five days because of her brother’s indisposition. We hear he is now out of danger and has been discharged from ICU. But he is still in hospital, under observation.
The day-after-tomorrow Siba Prasad Maitra will be hosting another party after the Sports Day prize-distribution ceremony. In all probability, Pushpa Gupta (another top winner) would join hands -- in which case we are in for a double bonanza. In case she doesn’t, it means another party due.
Sunday is a holiday. On Monday, March 11, Shekhawat wants to give us a treat for a variety of unrelated reasons: a hike in his monthly pension, his grandson having secured admission in a London college and Maitra having bailed him out from a precarious medical situation. Bihari Milwani reminded Shekhawat that his wedding anniversary is also coming up next week and this calls for an additional party.
Then there is Kiran Prakash’s birthday on March 16 (Saturday), but since he would be away on vacation from the 15th, the treat might have to wait. On March 20-21, we would be celebrating Holi in the Garden with the usual fun and fervor and that would entail yet another bout of feasting.
In other words, we have a busy time ahead. If anything, those who had been giving the Garden a miss will now be making an appearance – BEFORE TIME!
