Today was Yusuf Rassiwala’s wife, Niloufer’s birthday. She turned a year older… and we turned many years younger. As she could not make it to the Garden in the morning, her two lovely grandchildren, Mubaraka and Jamilla showed up and ushered in her birthday with us. They distributed chocolates on her behalf, took part in the exercises from start to finish and were all over the place running about and rubbing off some of their energy on us. Their presence was infectious. In the end, everybody felt so much more rejuvenated and upbeat, all thanks to those lively little girls.
Yusuf R has reserved the birthday celebration for a later date, most likely on November 10 when we are to gather at Juhu Beach for an evening party-cum-picnic (ref post of October 28). He has committed a handsome

contribution on the occasion, nearly matching the Club’s and that of Shekhawat (who wants to celebrate a recent pension hike). With so much in the kitty, we can look forward to a mega bash and a lot of fun and games.
Adding to the merriment today morning, there was Naseem Khan distributing chikkis from a recent visit to Pune. There was Fahmida Khan also, sharing with us a box of coconut flavoured soan-papdi from Nagpur, a rarity.
But more than anything, the visit of the two sisters, Mubaraka and Jamilla made our day. Do come again, both of you.

So it was really a'sweet day' in Big Laaf-- from chocolates to chikki to coconut-flavoured soan papadi and on top, the sweet, naughty smiles of Mubaraka and Jamilla. It was wonderful because we also found the child in us today.
