Most Obedient Member

Shekhawat registers his protest after being named Most Obedient Member
What started as a joke has now become a prestige issue. Shekhawat simply refuses to beat his chest, hit his head or pull his ears for the tai-chi (warm up) round. He says that these three acts are expressions of remorse and as such, anathema to him.
Yet, every morning without fail, the club religiously conspires to ensure that he performs at least one of these acts and there is nothing he can do about it. He can see through the conspiracy, but in the end, succumbs under pressure just so that we derive pleasure at his expense!
Today, at the instance of Bihari Milwani, all members acknowledged his sporting spirit and named him the ‘Most Obedient Member’ of the club. We also raised a fourth laugh in his honour for attaining this distinction.
Shekhawat is no fool. He knows very well that this so-called honour is a ploy to make him do what he does not want to do and that there will be little defence he can put up for it in future.
Shekhawat does a number while hitting his head
He registered his protest by pointing out that it is no coincidence that every day, only he must have to beat his chest (or hit his head, etc.) to the exclusion of all others.
Otherwise also, he has been protesting
Rukhsana Khan
daily about the unfairness of it all and even threatened to run away to the toilet before his turn comes. His efforts at dodging by say, swapping places in the exercise circle or quietly retiring to a bench on some pretext has scarcely helped him in any way.
But then, it must also be said that Shekhawat is himself the author of this drama and secretly enjoys every moment of it. This is clear from the way he turns extra frisky, prancing and dancing around when eventually, he must beat his chest or hit his head. No wonder, Bijoy Gupta questioned how Shekhawat could be called Most Obedient Member. “He is not even a member,” Gupta observed. “At least, he does not behave like one.”
Meanwhile, Rukhsana Khan reported acquiring a “dumbol” from an accident in her home. She tried to walk through a closed glass door leading to her balcony, only to land on her back with multiple (internal) injuries and a huge swelling, the size of a tennis ball, on her forehead to show for it. We wish her a speedy recovery.
