Picture postcard setting for today's exercises |
After the torrential rain that lashed the daylights out of us yesterday, we witnessed the proverbial fox’s wedding in the Garden today. One moment it was bright and sunny. The next, it was dark and gloomy.

Rain disrupts the exercises briefly |
Predictably, the rains descended, disrupting the exercises for a brief while. After that it was sunny again and we continued exercising in the open.
Such sun showers are always welcome, as was evident from the huge turnout today. Apart from
Yusuf Rassiwala, Bijoy Gupta and a few others who could not make it yesterday, we had two outsiders (read non-members) joining us for the exercises.

Dilip gets us prasad from Shirdi |
But the biggest surprise was
Qadeer Bano showing up after nearly four months. She was away at her family home in Rajasthan and dropped by today just to mark her return to Mumbai. She did not exercise though.

Banoo Apa (l) narrates a hilarious Laloo joke |
In this happy and extremely pleasant atmosphere,
Banoo Apa revived our good old jokes’ session with a hilarious take on Laloo Prasad Yadav. It seems the politico from Bihar (who is currently going through a pretty rough time) had applied for a job at
Microsoft, only to be turned down by Bill Gates personally. How the rejection letter from ‘Billwa Bhaiyya’ is interpreted in native tongue to sound as an appointment letter (replete with colloquial phrases and Lalooisms) made for an exceptional rib-tickler leaving us all in splits.
Nahid Khan chipped in soon after with a clever teacher-student joke and was followed by
Dilip Babani and
Bhaswati Bose. Incidentally, Dilip had visited the Sai Baba shrine at Shirdi recently and brought back a packet of delectable
revdis (as prasad) for us. In the rainy weather, this was just what the doctor ordered.
