Wet Spell Continues

Waiting in vain for the rains to subside
There was good news this morning and bad news. The bad news was that the wet spell continued in all its ferocity for the third day in a row, forcing many like Bihari Milwani and Zareena Khan to take a break today.
The good news was that Kiran Prakash, Khatoon Baig, Geeta Latte and others who were hitherto keeping low because of the rains, reported for the exercises. Effectively, we maintained a healthy count of 15-odd in the China Hut, in spite of the horrible weather.
Football further boosted our spirits as speculation mounted on the World Cup semi-final tonight between France and Belgium. Nobody is hazarding a guess on
Dilip Babani
the final winner (on July 15) yet, considering that many ‘hot favorites’ have already been knocked out of the tournament. Chances are that even Croatia could go on to lift the Cup. Or, as Siba Prasad Maitra pointed out, Belgium… who knows? The outcome of today’s semi-final match would provide a clue.
Maitra informed that for the benefit of football fans, many cinema halls have started ticketed shows of live telecasts of World Cup matches on the big screen. He identified two cineplexes in the vicinity holding such screenings. One problem though is the unearthly timings. And if perchance it rains heavily then, this could amount to purchasing trouble.
Meanwhile, Dilip Babani came up with an attractive proposition, in case the Club’s July-borns consider hosting a vegetarian lunch jointly (ref post of July 7). Yesterday, he spoke to Kailash Parbat, a top-notch vegan restaurant nearby and obtained details of the schemes on offer, the menu for a buffet lunch, total damages, etc. Everything sounded appetizing. But the final call shall have to be taken by the hosts – jointly.

Lt Col Angad Singh (rtd):
Despite heavy rains, the number of members gathering for exercises shows their enthusiasm and keenness for fitness. Good show. Keep it up. Keep laughing. It augurs well for everyone.
