Eid Party 2018 - III

A successful Eid Party: Fahmida is in the front row, fifth from left

Fahmida Khan was a much harried woman this morning. She had prepared sheer khurma for her Eid party today; but the way it kept raining, she wasn’t sure how many people would eventually make it to the Garden. Her preparation must not go waste.
Fahmida stays in Grenville Towers (opposite the Garden) and had sent the building watchman twice in the torrential downpour to check our attendance. Fifteen minutes into the exercises, we were still four. With every passing minute, the weather worsened. It was getting ominously dark with heavy rain lashing the China Hut and water from the gutters gushing into the Garden.
Fahmida panicked. She tried calling people in their homes, urging them to report to the Garden for her sheer khurma. But many phones had gone dead. Even Shekhawat could not be reached. Finally, she got Bhaswati Bose on the line and through her she could get across to some more members.
Meanwhile, Yusuf Rassiwala turned up on his own, followed by Zareena Khan, Siba Prasad Maitra and Banoo Apa. Before long, we had a full house, even as it continued to pour camels and elephants outside. Naheed Siddiqui and Pushpa Gupta were also there. The last to turn up were Bihari Milwani and Karun Sharma.
Fahmida Khan’s efforts did not go waste. This was one Eid party she will remember for a long time.

It was the sheer khurma prepared by Fahmida Khan which drew all the members out of their cosy homes to the Garden to enjoy the Eid Party. In the torrential rains, this attraction was too sweet to be missed. Hip hip Hurrah to Fahmida!
