Kiran Prakash (c) rues over his fate |
Clearly, WINNING mattered.
So when Kiran Prakash registered his protest this morning for not winning a single prize, nobody was amused.
Banoo Apa |
While everyone agreed that nothing but the complete involvement of every member accounted for the success of yesterday’s event, two factors that swung things our way were overlooked. One was the venue itself.
The most abiding image from yesterday's event |
The second and biggest factor was Banoo Apa, whose brainchild this was (ref post of February 25). Were it not for her, we would have been at a loose end, floundering around in the aftermath of the Annual Function being unceremoniously called off. Not only did she initiate the idea, she could successfully galvanise all members during the preparations and saw the event to its end.
Banoo Apa is not in the best of health. Still, for the sake of the Club, she worked quietly behind the scenes, making all arrangements and leaving nothing to chance – even organizing the snacks/ refreshments yesterday. And to top it all, she plunged headlong like an excited child to participate in the contests. If only she had bagged an award as well… Nothing would have been more well-deserved.
End Game? SPORTS DAY 2019 done and dusted. What remains is the prize giving ceremony on March 9, 2019 (Saturday). |
Can we have the next Sports Day on Sunday, 1st March, 2020? Rehearsals can start now for a better show.
Lt Col Angad Singh (rtd):
The Sports Day was an impromptu event. Once the date was fixed, everyone started rehearsing for the events they hoped to do well. Alas, the results proved to be slightly otherwise. Everyone enjoyed the show. The event was in the right spirit of Big Laaf. Well done. Keep it up!
Karun Sharma:
I noticed huge enthusiasm and happiness on the faces of all members of the Big Laaf family today. This event has charged us physically and mentally. Kiran Prakash was at his best when he showed us his acting skills. Everyone appreciated the well-organized event and we salute those who headed the organization. I was told Dilip had injured his leg. I wish him fastest recovery.
