What to Say?

Siba Prasad Maitra displays a cup he returned this morning
Just as we were warming up for our Sports Day on February 23 (see previous post), Siba Prasad Maitra did the unexpected: He returned all the cups and medals he had won last year. “I will be honoured if these are taken back from me,” he said.
No explanation was given. He spoke on the lines of his comments yesterday on this blog saying that he had kept the cups and medals for one year and that these may now be given away to someone else after changing the

inscriptions on them.
He left the cups and medals in a paper bag, unattended, on a bench and walked away. Nahid Khan very kindly agreed to take them home for safekeeping.
We hold Siba Prasad Maitra in high regard. He is a responsible man, the president of our Club. He knows what he is doing. Hence we shall refrain from making any comment on his action today.
Instead, let us turn our attention
When friends went calling on Razia Khan (in green) to cheer her up
to Razia Khan (ref post of January 28) who is not completely out of the woods as yet. She is back home after having a stent inserted in the passageway to her kidneys for which she was admitted to a private nursing home a fortnight back.
Razia has a history of kidney-stone formation which led to chronic infection and excruciating pain this time around. The stent was meant to heal the infected parts before the stones can be removed surgically. She will have to undergo endoscopy (and a repetition of other tests) before being hospitalised for surgery – clearly, a long haul ahead.
As of now, the pain has subsided a bit. A visit to her home last evening revealed that Razia has lost a lot of weight and turned so frail and weak that she can barely talk. She is waiting for her kidney infection to heal before going for the endoscopy and in time, another stent. Till then she must observe many restrictions on her food and liquid intake.
Let us all earnestly pray for her recovery and good health.

Lt Col Angad Singh (rtd):
I pray for the good health of Razia. I wish her speedy recovery and early return to the Garden.

Karun Sharma:
Razia-ji, jaldi se fit ho jao. We realise you are having a tough time dealing with the infection.
