Jinx Broken

Finally the jinx has been broken over the club Sports Day and Shekhawat has even started collecting money for the event (pic alongside) – now scheduled for January 12 (Saturday). Earlier, the date fixed was December 22, but it had been abruptly scrapped for reasons nobody is clear about. A broad consensus has now been reached and preparations are in full swing.
Nevertheless, some questions remain: Whether non-members/ guests should be allowed to join? What about those who want to carry their own lunch along? Why can’t individual games (as against team games) be played? Or else, what is the incentive for participating? Either way, how are the prizes to be allotted? Above all, what happens if some wild animal – a leopard or tiger – shows up… even as a spectator? Is it really worth risking life and limb on such a "precarious" mission?
While these questions are being thrown up by all and sundry, Harish Wadhwa (right pic) has worked out some basic modalities. The games identified include gulli-danda, pithoo/ sitoliya, tug-of-war, dog-and-bone and blind man’s buff, whereby two teams, randomly selected and headed by separate captains would be pitted against one another. Among individual games, only musical chairs (standing) and a 50-metre sprint could be identified. But then, this is still work-in-progress and subject to changes as we move on one step at a time.

Finally, we will have a Sports Day! Thank you, Harish-ji for planning the games and group activities. We have a lot to look forward.
Harish Wadhwa:
Let having fun be the only motive for the Sports Day. The Big Laaf team is working out the details to make the day memorable.

Yusuf-bhai is a man of endurance. He can endure all good, odd and harsh wheather of this world called "life", and still keep smiling; just like a camel in the sand dunes of deserts.
