Another Wet Day

This picture, taken barely five minutes before the exercises were to start today, says it all. Tara Chand Seth and Ved Prakash Grover, the first to arrive at the Garden, take stock of a distressful situation arising out of the rains playing havoc for the third consecutive morning. Nobody else had turned up till then. In fact, today was worse than any other day. For hours on end, it had been pouring camels and elephants – thus putting on hold all possibilities of exercising this morning. It was only when Nahid Khan and Kishor Babani came in that there was a change of heart and everyone decided not to waste the morning.
As time wore on, Srichand Arora walked into the Chinese Hut, followed by Sandhya Narang, Geeta Sardhana and then, Dilip and Kajal Babani, Monthi Serrao… At the end, we had a decent count of 11 brave men and women, valiantly upholding the Club’s credo: Come what may, the exercises must go on… not to be disrupted even for a day.
That’s what commitment is all about!
Says Renu Babani:
I certainly admire those members who make it to the Garden no matter what. The rains put a dampener on many of us, including me. But I suppose those who dared to venture out today, did so out of habit and the need to meet others who come daily. Such days tend to affect one's mood and create lethargy as well. Tomorrow is Sunday, a holiday. Let's hope that it turns out to be a sunny Monday morning which should brighten everyone's spirits!
Says Dilip Babani:
I think members were watching the telecast on Anna Hazare's Lokpal Bill. Or maybe, due to rainy weather, they were all feeling cold and did not want to come out of bed. Or maybe, it was laziness. Yes, we all become lazy when the climate is cold. Everybody likes hot tea, garam-garam pakoras, garam-garam seera and carrom board. For Bose-babu, cigarettes and daru. About picnic, if possible we should go to Lonavala and stay for one night so that we can have fun, jokes, antakshari, outing... Let Shekhawat come and organise the trip.
Dilip Babani adds:
Anna-ji has won today! Anna Hazare zindabad!!!
Anna-ji has said that his victory is "aam aadmi ki jeet" -- the common man's victory. That he is nothing without the support of the public. Yes, everybody has been frustrated by corruption -- poor people, middle- class people and upper middle-class people -- all due to loopholes in the system.
Our President-sa'ab, Arora-ji has helped Anna-ji by taking out a procession in his support. Every member of the Club is happy today. Victory to the Laughing Club!

Tomorrow is sunday, a holiday basically from the routine. Let's hope that it turns out to be sunny monday morning which should brighten everyone's spirits!
