Day 385

There must be some kind of a karmic connection between the Club and crows. Believe it or not, wherever we go to exercise, they keep following us around the Garden like MTNL linesmen during Diwali. Except that it is Diwali for them right round the year!
During the monsoon, when we need to take shelter in the Chinese Hut, one of them would invariably come flapping in, occupy a high beam and start cawing at us. In summer, when we exercise in the shade of a tree, they would do their ‘big shopping’ on top of us. During the winter, when we are out in the open, they would insist on holding their 'society meeting', plonk in the middle of our circle and nowhere else.
None of the other birds in the Garden would dare to do anything as audacious and get away with it.
Today, one of them landed in our midst (above), close to the Chinese Hut. Disregarding the presence of so many senior members, it started pecking at the ground. Then it looked up beady-eyed, sizing up the females one by one – Santosh Tyagi, Bhaswati Bose, Renu Babani, Monthi Serrao, Nahid Khan
Obviously this was a male – short-sighted and love-lorn. It did not give Tara Chand or Prakash Motwani or any of the other men standing close-by a second look. It also ignored Srichand Arora, who kept requesting it with folded hands to leave. Only when it saw it was attracting too much attention – even of amused passers-by on the walking track – did it stop ogling and pretended to be busy, pecking at the ground.
By the way, today happens to be Kiran Sajjan’s (left) birthday. As she is yet to get herself a new car, she has stopped coming to the Garden. Besides, she has a small grouse: Her name does not appear in the latest membership list. When this was explained as a matter of oversight, she promised to show up the day-after, on Saturday. Meanwhile, let us wish her many happy returns of the day – a long life, good health and a lovely car!
Says RENU BABANI:
Wishing Kiran Sajjan a very Happy Birthday and many more to come.
Yes, the bird today sure got the attention it required before flying away. I guess we somehow attract strange living things. So is it that we emit such vibes? At least, we are different from others and that is what makes us special. We are able to make light of any situation and laugh it off. Our lives have become entwined with one another, but no one knows when that happened. It just did. How do you explain so many people, all from different walks of life, meeting every morning to just have fun and be part of each other's lives?
Says HARISH WADHWA:
* Crow: "Why are these men and women imitating the gyrations of Shakira - Hips Don't Lie ?
* Wish you a very Happy Birthday, Kiran-ji.

Says DILIP BABANI:
