For the first time, a senior member of the Club will be felicitated on his PLATINUM Birth Anniversary. Ved Prakash Grover, who celebrated his 75th birthday with us on June 30, 2013 (see post) at Blue Waters restaurant, has been accorded this distinction. Club chairman Hari Singh Shekhawat will do the honours at the Garden this Saturday (August 10).
Arun Patil, who celebrated his 60th birthday on August 2, will also be felicitated by the Club. More than this being his DIAMOND jubilee year, he embodies all that Big Laaf has stood for by way of self-discipline, dedication and perseverance while maintaining an unbroken routine for the morning exercises. For those not in the know, barely two years back, this gentleman was waging a lone battle for life from a hospital bed with no doctor giving him a hope in hell for survival because of his acute diabetes condition. Today he is in the pink of health.
Significantly, these felicitations will coincide with the presentation ceremony of the Pehchaan Kaun-8 trophy (see post of August 2) for correctly identifying Ram Shankar Shukla from his childhood photograph.

CLUB CONSULTATIONS: Members bounce off ideas

Srichand Arora pretended not to know that he was the winner of the contest and began asking around for a “suit with tie” which he could perhaps borrow for the occasion. Monthi Serrao advised that wearing even a salwar-kameez suit would do for him. But before Arora could ask someone to lend her salwar-kameez, Harbans Kaur suggested that he go across to Maganlal Dresswala or some such supplier of Bollywood costumes and take his pick there. “Would they allow me to borrow the costume for a day?” Arora wanted to know.
“You can rent it for an hour also,” Monthi assured him.
With so much of positive energy in flow, a fresh demand was made for reconstituting the Club after lifting the current impasse (see post of May 16, 2013) and weeding out all undesirable elements who were neither serious about exercising nor up to any good. Everyone agreed that it was better to have a small, cohesive Club of like-minded people than collect a lot of flab which only proves to be destructive in the long run. An announcement in this regard can be expected soon.
Harish Wadhwa:
Well deserved celebrations for the celebrity gentlemen. We are all too excited to enjoy it this coming Saturday. The spirit behind doing all this is truly divine and I only hope that this infectious spirit, engulfs people from all walks of life with happiness and revelry.

It gives me immense pleasure to note that the club will be felicitating Mr Ved Prakash Grover and Mr Arun Patil upon their completion of Platinum and Diamond jubilee years respectively. My heartiest congratulations to them. They are good friends and even better persons. God bless them with wonderful times ahead.
