Busy Month

Charting a new roadmap for the Club
From time to time, there has been sporadic talk for launching a concerted membership drive targeted exclusively at people born in March. For this is the only month in our Club calendar when there is not a single birthday showing. Effectively, no ‘party’ during this month. On every other month, our appetite for sweets is taken care of by two or three members (if not more) celebrating their birthdays with luddoos and barfis – and should we get lucky, with phapda-jalebi! March (and to an extent, April and December) are particularly ‘dry’ months.
But then, March this year shouldn't be as bad as is being made out to be. True, there are no birthdays, but we’ve just celebrated the International Women’s Day on Saturday (see post of March 8). In a couple of days, the results of Pehchaan Kaun – 9 would be announced. March 14 (Friday) is the Club's 11th Foundation Day. Hari Singh Shekhawat’s 54th wedding anniversary falls on the same date and he has already asked everyone to be present in the Garden and celebrate with him and his wife.
The very next day (Saturday), Santosh Tyagi would be treating us to her special kanji and she too has extended an open invitation to all. In between, there would be Jagmohan Papneja, Nahid Khan and Arun Patil returning from their outstation trips and chances are we could get lucky again. But the mother of all celebrations would be on March 17, 2014. That would be Holi. So watch this space!
