Shekhawat announces scrapping of trip |
“I spoke to the tour operator last evening,” he informed. “I was supposed to deposit 50 per cent of the tour costs in his ICICI bank account on September 1. He had offered a fantastic deal subject to my getting him at least 20 people. Only 18 have paid up so far. Since I could not honour my commitment, the operator called off the deal yesterday.”
Three factors conspired against Shekhawat this time. One, the deal was too good to be true, thus raising suspicion in many about the quality of services on offer. Two, most members had turned adamant on not taking ‘outsiders’ on the trip without actually committing themselves.
"And what do you have to say?" |
The third and most decisive factor was his shedding those greenish-brown multi-pocket shorts that had held him in good stead during past excursions (ref post of August 27).

While Shekhawat was bitter on his efforts going waste, Srichand Arora lost his cool over the growing indiscipline among the ladies. He gave them two pieces of his mind: one, for continuing to chat in the China Hut after the exercises begin; and two, for constantly chattering and being absent-minded during the exercises. The ladies heard him in silence and were soon back to their antics.
The best news though, was the rapid recovery of Ghasi Ram Garg (ref post of August 9) in Kokilaben Hospital. According to his wife, Neelam, he has been discharged from ICU and is now in the general ward of the hospital. He is able to sit upright on his own, speak (though haltingly), imbibe food (in liquid form) and most importantly, the tubes attached for him to pass urine have been removed. It is only a matter of time before he regains his faculties.
Indeed, miracles do happen!
Renu Babani:
Great to hear about Mr Garg. Ganpati festivities proved lucky for sure. God Bless!
Bhaswati Bose:
Refer to today's thought of the day ('Chew on This'). Amitabh Bachchan has been appearing in my dreams for the last two nights. I am still waiting for his call!
Jagmohan Papneja:
Shekhawat-ji is a person of special breed. He knows when to speak up and when to act. He took the opportunity to convey his feelings without hurting anyone for not executing the trip to Mahabaleshwar. We should learn from Shekhawat-ji while dealing with our own members.
Harish Wadhwa:
* First of all, my sincere good wishes and prayers go out to Mr Garg for his good health. Regards also to Mrs Neelam Garg for being courageous in these difficult moments. May good God bless them and family.
* Bhaswati-ji, Amitabh ka bhoot Bose-babu ban kar aapke paas hee to hai. Aur kitne phone bhi karta hai... Hee-hee-hee... Bhootnath movie mein Amitabh ne kaha tha ki woh har achhe vyakti ke paas 'bhoot' ban kar rehta hain.
* Papneja-ji well said.
