December Chill

Nahid Khan is back!
The beginning of another week. And the first day of the last month of the year. There is already a nip in the air and the darkness of the night is yet to lift from the Garden when we meet early morning. In another fortnight, when winter sets in proper, it would be pitch dark with the Garden lights still on. The good part is that we are relieved of all the sweat and stickiness that accompanies our exercises for the rest of the year.
Nahid Khan registered her return from Lucknow with a box of crackers from the city’s well known Burma Sweet House. This time she appears to have put on some weight and as Arun Patil pointedly remarked, “Motee ho gayi!” But knowing Nahid, it won’t take her long to burn off those extra kilos. She is one of those rare people who can push herself that extra mile to regain her fitness. More importantly, we have our regular ‘teacher’ back and it will be all fun and games like the old times.

Nahid-ji, thanks for your Lukhnawi snacks -- a tasty bite in the chilly weather. Winter is the best season in Mumbai. Enjoy it.
