Women’s Scare

Apologies were in order for these women
It was not Shekhawat’s day today also. The day-before yesterday, the Nigerian scare got him (see post). Yesterday, he was threatened by the invasion of 300 school children. Today, on home turf, a group of angry women came charging, posing a very ‘clear and present danger'!
The women had been exercising (as usual) in a section of the Garden adjacent to ours when Arun Patil “felt disturbed by the noise they were making” and shouted at them. At his behest, Rakhi Bansi went across and gave them a mouthful.

This was completely uncalled for and more so, since she was quoted as saying, “Don’t think you are in UP-Bihar…” or words to that effect.
So when the women ganged up and advanced towards us demanding an explanation, it was our turn to be not only scared but also ashamed.
Arora distributes membership list
From Mumtaz Jahan to Fehmida Khan, everyone apologised profusely with folded hands. Srichand Arora assured them that the Garden was “nobody’s father’s property” and they were free to do as they please. The women departed smiling and peace was restored. But that was only momentarily.
Before long, Shekhawat was to get agitated on the accusation of causing indiscipline in the Club.
Yusuf Rassiwala objects to the trimming exercise
He lost his temper when Arun blamed him for vitiating the atmosphere during exercises with his mindless pranks and tomfoolery. “This is not a parade ground that I should remain quiet and restrained,” Shekhawat thundered. “Try stopping me,” he challenged, trembling with rage.
Shekhawat is a cardiac patient and had recently undergone a carotid artery surgery (CAS). Seeing he had broken into cold sweat, we panicked. Swati Punjabi quickly seated him on a bench, fanning and wiping his face. It took him about 15 minutes to regain his composure. Later, Swati and Banoo Apa were to escort him home.
Earlier in the morning, Arora made a vain bid at trimming the club membership and handed over copies of the list to everybody. It was a flawed list. Yusuf Rassiwala was quick to poke holes in it and raise objections on the logic behind expelling members who had already paid their annual subscription. After extensive discussions, the exercise was aborted and copies of the list returned to Arora.
Lt Col Angad Singh (retd):
At times we feel hurt when someone makes noise joyously. We have to be tolerant towards those who enjoy themselves in their own manner. That is what happened today.
