Look closely... the grass is not as green as they seem |
Today, stray dogs visiting the Garden provided us the subject for our morning discourse. Proof of their nocturnal stopovers shows up at sunrise (when we arrive) in the form of little piles of poop around the grass. And woe betide anybody who steps on them – as it happened with Khatoon Baig this morning.
Two days back, Zarina Khan did exactly the same thing and yesterday, she pulled Qadeer Banoo away at the nick of time, lest she committed a similar blunder. “Why don’t they lock the Garden gate at night to prevent dogs from coming in?” demanded Khatoon.
“Dogs don’t need a gate to enter the Garden,” Nahid Khan replied philosophically. “They can enter from anywhere."
"True," Banoo Apa agreed. "Any small opening will do."
"The Garden is open on all sides," continued Nahid. "We don’t have a secure boundary wall. Only human beings need to use the gate to come in.”
“You mean these could be…” Zarina’s voice trailed off. Suddenly the odorless poop assumed a different character as everybody wrinkled their nose and inspected the greenish-brown piles closest to their feet. “Where is the sweeper?” shouted Arun Patil. “We should go complain!”
Now this is not a subject ordinarily discussed in polite company. But the way things are, whoever is responsible for those little deposits in the Garden seems to have taken a strong liking towards us, thereby transforming the corner where we exercise into a minefield of poop.
Earlier, women were affected. Nowadays, men are also complaining. And as senior citizens, everybody is openly admitting to “failing eyesight”, every time a foot lands accidentally on the squishy-squashy remains of the night.
Bihari Milwani:
The dog poops are actually a blessing in disguise. Next month they will help in the growth of new and greener grass. We should encourage the dogs to come with their family and friends.

I think dog poops are odourless and tasteless.
Blog Monster: Who is this? How does he/she know dog poop is tasteless? Does this person eat dog poop? THE NATION WANTS TO KNOW!!!
