Saroj Muni (in yellow) speaks of her ongoing affair with food |
So when Saroj Muni today informed us of an eatery in Malad offering “good vegetarian buffet” on Sunday mornings, we were all excited. “They have a lavish spread,” she narrated. “You may eat as much as you wish for a fixed price.

Saroj Muni happens to be an occasional participant in our exercises and is familiar with our members. Like many others, she is regarded as a friend of the Club. But her true identity, insofar as we are concerned, is that she is a true, blue-blooded foodie. There is not a single restaurant in our vicinity she has not visited, sampled the food and formed an opinion.
On our part, we too have been fairly adventurous of late – trying and tasting out of restaurants like High Point, China Gate, Kailash Parbat and Tiwaris, to name a few. A Juhu Beach bash is lined up for the next weekend (on November 10). Before we are done with it, the prospect of a sumptuous buffet breakfast at Malad hangs tantalisingly close.
Significantly, nobody is even bothered about the mode of transport, so much so that we are prepared to even travel to Malad by public bus. “It will be a new kind of adventure,” Yusuf Rassiwala iterated. “Imagine on a Sunday morning, we all meet at a bus stop outside the Garden and get into No 79… The bus would be empty in the morning. What fun!”
Well, the seed of an idea has been sown. Watch this space.

On this pretext we shall start meeting on Sundays also. A few old members may well recollect that my old pet name used to be “Happy Sunday".
