Winter is Here

Barely a week back we faced torrential rains, thunder and lightning as monsoon delivered its parting shot for the year. Now winter is upon us. Even as the morning chill is yet to set in, there is an unmistakable nip in the air.
Dull haze hangs over the Garden while we exercise
Many are nursing sore throats and runny noses and can be seen sporting mufflers and shawls. (Shekhawat said he is already wearing woollen inners.) Our day begins in partial darkness and the dull haze over the Garden lifts only towards the end of the exercises when the sun comes out. It is mid-November after all.
The continued absence of our key ‘teachers’ (ref post of November 14) is throwing up new surprises every morning. Day-before yesterday, Karun Sharma took charge of the exercises. Yesterday, Shekhawat stuck his neck out. Today, Bhaswati Bose was to play ring master, but we ended up having multiple ‘teachers’ with Shekhawat and even Rukhsana Khan joining in, thus raising an unusual cacophony during the exercises.
While Yusuf Rassiwala and Nahid Khan had informed that they would be out of town, Razia Khan’s no-show has been a bit of a mystery. She was supposed to take care of the exercises in the absence of the other two. Today we were told that she has badly sprained her foot after a terrible fall at home. She is unable to walk. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her soon.
