Police Warrant!

Clapping merrily on a 'dry day'
The perennial problem of punctuality and attendance took a hilarious turn today when Shekhawat, out of sheer exasperation, threatened to file a ‘Missing Persons’ complaint with the local police station.
Adding fuel to fire, Bijoy Gupta recommended he should better obtain a “police warrant” listing out people who did not report for the exercises this morning. “The police will then draw them out of their houses and produce them before

you in the Garden,” he explained.
This follows several measures initiated in the past ranging from imposing fines to scrapping of membership, shutting the garden’s gates to late-comers and of late, shaming them with a white flower. Shekhawat had even threatened to resign from the Club earlier this week (ref post of January 27) should the problem of bunking persist.
However, to be fair to the absentees today, a crippling water crisis has gripped large stretches of Jogeshwari, Yamuna Nagar, Lokhandwala and Four Bungalows. Metro work near the JVLR flyover has cracked open the water mains 11 metres below ground level, causing immense distress to residents in the area for the past two days. Supplies from water tankers and Bisleri dealers have proved hopelessly inadequate.
So let alone the Club, the entire Garden wore a deserted look this morning. But the funny part was that Shekhawat had been blissfully unaware of the water crisis. His building society has a huge underground reservoir of recycled water to take care of emergencies.
Repair work of the mains was supposed to be over last night and water supply restored today. Sadly, that was not to be.
