Final Touches

Karun Sharma (ext left) brought us balusahii from Delhi
So Karun Sharma is organising the bouquet for tomorrow’s function. Naseem Khan will be picking up the shawl. Banoo Apa, Bhaswati Bose and Fahmida Khan shall be stationed at the Gate to receive the guest of honour. Bijoy Gupta and Zarina Khan will formally welcome him on stage. Razia Khan will make the opening remarks...
Johnny Lever’s visit tomorrow to give away prizes to the winners of Sports Day (ref post of February 23) has got our members charged up like never before. With less than 24 hours to go, a meeting was hurriedly called this morning to finalise all details – right
Discussions spill out to the gate
from escorting the chief guest to the Garden to according him a warm welcome on stage to sequencing the hour-long programme and so on.
Three broad areas were identified that would require attention. Ushering in the chief guest will be taken care of by Razia Khan and her team. Two, the programming on stage would be under Yusuf Rassiwala’s control. And three, post-programme refreshments would be the responsibility of Banoo Apa and her team.
Ambokar, the decorator entrusted with the job, was present during the meeting to personally address our last-minute requirements and finalise all details from his end. He assured us that by late-night today, the stage and chairs would be in place.
Significantly, when Razia called Johnny Lever’s residence today (while the meeting was on) to check his convenience tomorrow, she was in for a rude shock. The ace funster feigned lapse of memory, saying that he was already committed elsewhere. He apologised profusely, only to burst out laughing when he realised he had given Razia a minor heart attack.
Even more significant was his offer to pick up Razia from her residence, rather than the other way around. Initially, plans were that Yusuf R would deploy his car to pick up the guest as a matter of courtesy. Now, as things stand, Johnny Lever will travel in the opposite direction, pick up Razia and together, they would drive to the Garden in a shiny Merc!
It is not for nothing that we are a laughter club.
