Diwali is tomorrow and today we have woken up to whether we should have a small contributory party to celebrate the occasion. Shekhawat-ji opined that it would be a fitting gesture in reciprocation to the Eid party of September 23 (see Afternoon Blast). But that was at Shabri Hotel. And he has not yet recovered fully to do the organizing bit.
Srichand Arora agreed to step in, but clarified at the outset that he is opposed to any party in a hotel/restaurant. Sitaram Hirvekar concurred. The ladies looked uncertain and so, by default, Vyanjan became the only option for sourcing savories. Arora and Kishor-bhai would decide on the menu when they visit the place this evening.
Tomorrow is of course, too early to have the party and on Saturday, Geeta Sandana (above) will be leaving for the South as Barack Obama is coming on that day. On Sundays, attendance is thin. Monday too is a bad day for some reason. So tentatively, Tuesday, November 9, has been fixed for the Diwali party.
Amid all the dilly-dallying, Sunita Jajodia walked out saying, “Party-sharty nahin jamta”. Geeta looked bewildered: “Jab baraf jam sakta hai, dahi jam sakta hai, party kyun nahin jamega?” Even earlier, during the exercises, she, along with Nafisa Syed (left) kept everybody in titters with non-stop quips and taunts. At one point, Nafisa hailed Rane-bhau as Gandhi-ji. “Bapu, aap jo bologey, hum karega,” she declared aloud.
Meanwhile, Hari Naraiyani (right) registered his return, having survived a hailstorm at Beas. Promptly, Tara Chand-ji announced he’d be leaving for Delhi on November 11 and Mrs Harbans Singh joined in to say she’d be going to Ludhiana on November 17.
Never knew Hari-bhai could be such a terror -- even bigger than Barack Obama!
