Day 355

Hari Singh Shekhawat today shot down the idea of a picnic at Lonavala this month-end. Responding to mounting pressure from a cross-section of members, he declared that there can be no question of even considering a picnic for as long as the monsoon persists.
“What is the point of spending money and going all the way with a bus-load of people, only to find yourself cooped in a hotel room, waiting for the rains to subside?” he reasoned.
He also spoke at length of the risks to life and limb – the possibility of bad traffic, water-logging and landslides on the way. “What if there is a mishap?” he argued. “At our age, anybody could slip and fall on a wet surface. That is why I am insisting that we wait a couple of months before thinking about the picnic. By then, the Ramzaan month of fasting would also be over.”
Harish Wadhwa was however, of the opinion that instead of foreclosing all options (or for that matter, getting into elaborate preparations) an impromptu picnic may still be considered. As Srichand Arora has been mentioning, a few families could get together and set out individually in cars without necessarily involving the whole Club.
Meanwhile, Bhaswati Bose celebrated her birthday (pic above) by distributing sweets this morning. We wish her many happy returns of the day, long life, good health, peace and contentment.

Kishor-da and Renu-ji, where were you? The laughter dose was missing today. Dilip-bhai is also absconding for some time now. He needs to leave his laziness behind. Kajal-ji, you were there today, but possibly you missed giving our friend a nice cup of morning tea to cheer him up.
