Eid Mubarak!

After fasting through the month of Ramzan, the day has come to be showered with the blessings of Allah – to celebrate festivity and feasting, brotherhood and love, health and happiness, peace and prosperity… May all your prayers be answered and dreams be fulfilled. Eid Mubarak to all!
The sun streaming into the Garden (below) added to the festive spirit. Gone were the mornings of gloom with intermittent rain, which forced us to stay confined in the Chinese Hut. People looked ‘liberated’ today – especially Bapu Rane, who took upon himself the task of conducting the Laughter and Exercise rounds both, in his inimitable Marathi style.It was a rare experience for everyone to be told, for instance, “Mundi ghumaney ka” or “Kurchi sambhalney ka”, or “Baal pe haath maarne ka” (Where did that come from?)…
The Butterfly exercise became “Mister Butterfly” today. Natch Baliye became something unpronoun-ceable and when it came to the Neelam Exercise, Rane turned coy and mumbled, “Unka Exercise!” Neelam Garg, who was standing opposite, promptly confronted him: “What, don’t you know my name?” Rane did not reply and instead, leapt in the air, clapping to the beat of a song playing on Kishor Babani’s mobile.
In the absence of Nahid Khan and others who conduct the exercises regularly, Rane’s antics today came as a refreshing change, providing much entertainment and joy to all. His toothless laugh specially, is a sight to behold. Let us look forward to having more of him in the middle.
