Ganju-Panju

Two unlikely characters entered our lives today – Ganju and Panju.
Announcing their ‘birth’, Kishor Babani urged members this morning to visit http://ganjupanju.blogspot.com – the blog site created for them on New Year's day to record their daily antics and foibles, their tomfoolery, mischief and madness.
Like the misadventures of the proverbial Santa-Banta sardars, there is no end to the pranks and high jinks of Ganju and Panju, which should keep you in splits right through the year. Yet, unlike Santa-Banta, the blog will steer clear of communal and sexist jokes and instead, concentrate on clean, unadulterated and intelligent humour. By and large, these would be spin-offs from Kishor’s daily jokes’ narrations at the Garden (above pic) so that those who miss them in the morning would be able to catch up through this blog.
The morning also saw Hari Naraiyani distribute boxes of aerated fruit drinks (‘Frooty’) to mark the first day of exercises in the New Year. It was not just thoughtful, but a noble gesture on the part of this frail, 82-year-old pensioner (pic left ) who lugged so many boxes by himself to the Garden. He did not have to… like the rest of us. But he did.
Yet another significant development of the New Year was that for once, the idea of segregation between male and female members was challenged this morning. James Menezes (Kishor’s brother-in-law) stood his ground through the exercises, flanked by four females on either side. More than that, soon after the exercises, the women dropped their inhibitions and reached out to all male members, hands held aloft for the high-fives (above-right). This time it was the men who looked rather coy!
Clearly, it was a day of new beginnings.

Congratulations Kishor-da, for the new blog. It is really nice and I, for one, will be the first 'follower' and give you multiple hits. I mean, NOT literal ones... but blog hits. (Loh, yeh bhi ek joke ho gaya!) Now we need to put two hilarious "Ganju" and "Panju" caricatures. How about a morphed picture of Kishor-Derek (or Kishor-Dilip) as Ganju-Panju? Add a little choti to both of them (LOL)!
