Brolies Are Out

The umbrellas are out. A fairly wet week-end established the onset of monsoon. With the newspapers also raising a “heavy rain alert in the next 48 hours”, nobody took any chances today. Luckily we did not have to open our umbrellas. And the exercises passed off peacefully.
Srichand Arora brought along copies of the minutes of the Managing Committee meeting held last Saturday. He informed (left pic) members of the discussions held – a review of the Club’s finances, need to generate more revenue, cultural evenings to improve interaction between members, etc. He also raised the issue of discipline (post of June 16) and appealed to all to be serious about the exercises and remain sensitive towards the Club’s image.
Jagmohan Papneja proposed introducing “guest charges” for future picnics and excursions, which would augment the Club’s coffers. Arora welcomed the idea and requested members to think along similar lines and come up with suitable suggestions. The suggestions would be taken up at the general body meeting scheduled for June 30 in the Chinese Hut.
It was also the birthday of Kiran Arora (right pic). Much as we missed her presence in the Garden today, at Shekhawat’s instance we raised the customary ‘fourth laugh’ for her after the exercises. Through this blog, we wish her many happy returns of the day – a wonderful life ahead, robust health and complete calm and contentment.
