In line with the battery of birthdays this month, Kishor and Renu Babani had a little celebration for their son in the Garden this morning. Dr Prakash Babani is at present in Canada, pursuing his medical studies. But until recently, he was with us on an extended holiday and had won the hearts of all in a very short time. It was only natural that everyone should rejoice with feeling and bless the boy today. The ‘extra laugh’ was raised as usual and there were jumbo packets of biscuits (right pic) for all those present.
The best part though was when everyone danced and clapped, singing “Happy Birthday to You” and Renu recorded the cacophony on her mobile. We will never know if Prakash would be able to make sense of that noisy recording; but surely he cannot miss the voices of Srichand Arora and Harish Wadhwa rising above the rest. Their efforts at making themselves heard to Prakash in Canada ought not to go in vain!
The other reason for us to rejoice this morning was the return of two prodigals. Both Ram Shankar Shukla (left pic) and Nahid Khan (right pic) had disappeared for more than a fortnight without as much of a by-your-leave. It turns out that Shukla had taken his lota-kambal on pilgrimage to the higher reaches of the Himalayas, beyond Haridwar – to Gangotri and Jamunotri (from where the Ganges and Jamuna originate). And Nahid was doing Ho-Ho Ha-Ha inside the Gol Gombuz of Bijapur. She had been holidaying with her friend, Lakshmi in a nearby village. We welcome them back into civilisation with open arms.
Renu Babani:
Yesss! I sent the voice recording to Prakash via e-mail. He received it and was really touched. He would like to thank all of you for your best wishes and sends a big Hi! as well.
PICSPEAK:
* "Is this an advertisement or promotion of sorts?"
* "We are back with a bang. How can we forget you?"
Harish Wadhwa:
* I liked the phrase "welcome to civilization" in the blog! Happy Birthday Prakash. I hope that amid all the studies of psychology, you will celebrate your birthday and psychologically know that we all remembered you today. Thanks to the ever-smiling Kishor-da, Renu-ji and family for the tasty biscuits.
* Special greetings to Ram Shankar-ji for the teerth yatra to Gangotri and Jamnotri. May the good God bless you and your family with good health and prosperity. The sweets (distributed) show that you remembered and prayed for the well-being of all the members of Big Laaf during your visit to the holy shrine.
