From the Heart

There are birthdays and birthdays. Some celebrate because they have to, not because they want to. Many wait for others to celebrate before joining in. A few do not celebrate at all. And then there are those who overdo it – little realizing that fries and sweets on an empty stomach early morning does no good to anybody.
It is only rarely that someone dispenses with ceremony and celebrates a birthday from the heart. Like Ramila Mistry today. The song and dance was left for us to perform while she distributed chocolates (right pic). Yes, simple chocolates for “moonh meetha” (sweetening the mouth), much to everyone’s delight. Shekhawat had earlier made the birthday announcement, which was followed by the customary ‘extra laugh’ and the chorus of singing and clapping that accompanies all celebrations. No useless frills, no pretensions. It was an event, short and sweet – and memorable.
As always, action was soon to shift to the tea shop with members of the Badmaash Company ganging up for their daily dose of ‘genuine’ laughter. (For many, laughter during the exercises is perfunctory and forced.) But for a change today, the focus of conversation was on the advancements in software technology with Kishor Babani demonstrating the latest applications and features in his tablet PC (pic above). Arun Patil now wants to acquire this fascinating 'toy' and with Harish Wadhwa playing the Gadget Guru with suitable updates, the session turned out to be both educative and entertaining.
Surely Badmaash Company is not all that bad as it has been made out to be.
