Missing Them

“Hitler is coming tomorrow!” announced Kishor Babani.
“He is already watching us,” warned Arun Patil. “He has fitted surveillance cameras all around the Garden.”
Kal se bommb-a-bomm shuru hoga,” Bapu Rane shook his head genially.
Like mothers who put the fear of Gabbar Singh in disobedient children, these gentlemen invoked Hitler’s name to rein in a bunch of talkative ladies and bring about some order during the exercises. Yet, they all conceded that today was the last day for the ladies to let their hair down because from tomorrow, when the first batch of the Kashmir group shows up at the Garden, automatically everybody would be on guard.
But indirectly, this was also an expression of how much the 33 members were being missed. With the breakdown of communication between Srinagar and Mumbai, all conversation in the Garden has wavered between serious concern and wild speculation about them. “It would be very hard on those boarding the train from Jammu today,” empathised Tara Chand Seth. “They should have either extended their stay or taken a direct flight back.”
Others debated on whether a Kashmir trip of barely three or four days was really worth the effort… and so on and so forth, till Jagmohan Papneja (in pic) decided to narrate a ‘Hitler joke’ after the exercises. It seems Hitler visited a poultry farm and had ordered that henceforth the birds should start laying two eggs every day. The next day when he went there to check, he found that one had defaulted. Hitler flew into rage and summoned the poultry owner. Sheepishly, the latter informed, “What you see there is not a hen. It is a murga!”
Haw-haw-haw... Hoo-hoo-hoo!!!
