Sealed with Sweets

"Why a small bite? Eat the full thing!"
"Now look at her... she won't shut her mouth!"
The other day when Nafisa was asked what she liked most if the Club were to give her and Razia a treat, her reply was prompt and precise. “Sweets,” she said.
For a chronic diabetic, this was like asking for poison.
Magar mein kha leti hoon,” she said with childlike innocence. “I like luddoos.”
“But you are not supposed to have anything sweet,” we pleaded.
“So what? But I want luddoos only,” she demanded.
Grudgingly we agreed that one luddoo wouldn’t make a difference -- if that should make her happy. But Razia was then holidaying at Lonavala and without her, there could be no treat. After all, it was in deference to our wishes and particularly, upon the insistence of Srichand Arora, Jagmohan Papneja, Santosh Tyagi and others that Nafisa and Razia had swallowed their pride and buried their differences (post of April 24).
It had of course, taken them some more time to actually come around and we studiously kept our distance, giving them their time and space. Finally, when we saw them walking and chatting together like before, we realized the ice had thawed and it was time to celebrate. For that’s what being together as a family is all about.
The luddoos today were an expression of our collective joy. And to provide further pep to the proceedings, Nafisa was at her mischievous best giving a running commentary of the exercises from the beginning – till Arora had to tell her to behave herself or else “Aapka luddoo cancel!” That silenced her for a moment and then she broke into a duet with Razia, hoping Arora wouldn’t hear. He didn’t. Like two carefree songbirds, they sang and sang... but to their misfortune, Arora noticed something amiss and he went up charging, placing himself between them. Nafisa escaped from there, but continued with her pranks later – as the pictures above indicate.
Jagmohan Papneja:
This reunion demonstrates that the pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again. Long live their partnership.
Renu Babani:
Signed, sealed and delivered -- luddoos to mend all bridges.
Harish Wadhwa:
How about having a mock fight, with Arora-ji as witness? And then we may land up getting a treat! Not bad a prank, for the goodies!!!
