Happy Moments

Goodies from Thailand
In spite of foul weather conditions with intermittent rainfall, the morning had its many happy moments. For one, Bhaswati Bose distributed the goodies she had brought from a recent trip to Thailand. For another, there was much to catch up with since the closure of the blog last week – especially after the suspense over the ‘mystery party’ (see post of June 27) was lifted last-to-last Sunday.
Birthday bash: Grover and son
It turned out to be the big birthday bash of Ved Prakash Grover, hosted by his loving son Dharmendra at Blue Waters restaurant on June 30.
Yet another welcome development was Hari Singh Shekhawat resuming his exercises at the Garden from last Monday. In May he underwent an open heart surgery, which has clearly taken a big toll on his health. He looks weak and feeble, speaks in a faint monotone and complains of a persistent pain across the left side of his body.

But his spirits remain high and true to style, he kept delivering his cues like “Hai mera dil” and “Kissa kursi ka, doosra padav” as the exercises progressed. He also dropped hints of reviving his plans of a Club trip to Kerala this autumn.
Fab Four of Badmaash Company

“I need to ask the doctors two things,” he contemplated. “They say it would take me three months to recover fully. But during this period, I need to know whether I will be able to go to Kerala. The second thing is whether I can get back to my drinking. The wife refuses to give me whiskey and I cannot sleep without my daily peg. I am sick and tired of taking sleeping pills…”
Said in good humour, the musings evoked more laughter than sympathy. But nothing could quite match the spectacle staged by four members of the Badmaash Company as they turned up in same-to-same white tight-fitting T-shirts – almost as though in uniform. Harish Wadhwa added a twist to the drama when he walked in wearing a grey T-shirt and then, with a flourish, taking it off to reveal the white one worn underneath.
The cause for these theatrics should be known in time to come.
Harish Wadhwa:
* I was greeted by Grover-sa'ab asking where I had got my "top" from? Some women took digs at me asking if I was wearing my kids T-shirt? Well, that speaks for the reason why I was wearing a grey one above it. It was just for the road as I did not want to expose my Salman Khan-like sculpted body! Hee hee. Once in the Garden, I was all willing to flaunt it and exercise in my lovely acquired body hugging T-shirt.
* Grover-sa'ab's DIAMOND BIRTHDAY celebration was superb and everyone enjoyed it. The surprise factor from his son and his confidantes in Big Laaf did the trick. Will wait for the centenary celebrations now.

Grover-Saab's Diamond B'Day was superb and everyone enjoyed it. The surprise factor from his son and his confidantes in Big Laaf did the trick. Will wait for the centenary celebrations as well from him.
