Hello 2014!

New Year dawns upon the Garden

Yup, we are back.
We have survived 2013 and more importantly, the excesses of last night – not to mention the early morning darkness and windy chill… all so that we could celebrate the first rays of the New Year sun in the Garden.

And to add to the merriment, there were loads of barfis and savories, courtesy Qadir Bano. Today happened to be her birthday also.
Well, that was as it ought to be. But much of it did not happen. Most of the members chose to sleep the morning away at home. Even regulars like Monthi Serrao, Razia Khan and Ram Shankar Shukla could not make it today. Someone as punctual as Ved Prakash Grover arrived late. Yusuf Rassiwala showed up after a year and for the better part behaved like a perfect stranger. He did not even join the exercises and kept walking around the garden till he had to be summoned and formally introduced to the group!
But as always, this was all in light vein. And so, amid our crazy laughter, the music, much hand pumping and frequent bear hugs, we ushered in 2014 with aplomb. Happy New Year everybody!
