‘Biryani Nite’

Kiran Prakash
The first ever digital exhibition of photographs (ref post of March 30) has been fixed for April 18 in the China Hut of the Garden. However, given the penchant for stuffing our bellies, the event is now being touted as Biryani Nite – since that is the main item on the dinner menu for the evening.
Kiran Prakash, whose brainchild this is, has already made a rough selection of 200-odd photos appearing in this blog over the past five years, ending March 31, 2015 – the idea being to capture the many moods and (unguarded) moments of members within the broad parameters of aesthetics, good humour and of course, visual appeal.

A final call would be taken by Srichand Arora and Siba Prasad Maitra together.
The larger objective of this exhibition is to take everyone down memory lane, particularly those who do not have personal access to computers and have missed seeing their own photographs in this blog. Their family members could also be curious about our activities in the Garden and this would effectively be an opportunity for them to meet us and vice-versa.

In other words, this should turn out to be a get-together of sorts for members' families – something that has never happened earlier in the Club.
Shekhawat has announced that biryani packets (both veg and non-veg) would be distributed free to members while their guests/ family members would be charged actuals. Harish Wadhwa shall put up a projector and big screen in the China Hut. Time permitting there will also be a Housie Session. The three-and-half hour programme is expected to wind up at 10:00pm.
While on food, Banoo Apa did the unexpected by hosting a grand breakfast treat this morning after the exercises. The intention was to have us sample Darjeeling’s famous (but horribly overrated) tea after her trip there. Now, there is something incredibly admirable about this over-generous and sprightly lady that quite defies her age. She felt that serving tea alone would look awkward and so she brought a variety of biscuits and (hold your breath!) potato curry and pao as supplements. What’s more, she had dahi-vada also, but (mercifully) forgot the dahi at home! More than anybody else, she was amused at her own folly. While thanking her, we only wish she keeps forgetting like this – for that is what makes her so uniquely Banoo Apa.
Kiran Prakash:
* Digital exhibition of photographs, Housie, antakshari, music, dance and dinner should make it a memorable evening. Let's put our heads together to plan a real entertaining evening like we have never experienced in the past.
* I have come to know that Razia-ji (along with some equally competent members) has the potential of successfully organising such events. I shall urge her to use her resources to make it an event to remember.
