Tedious Ritual

Shekhawat takes charge of the membership papers
With a new financial year (2015-16) upon us, the tedious ritual of membership renewal has begun. The process was initiated by Srichand Arora a couple of days back, but now that Shekhawat is back from the Gangtok-Darjeeling tour, he handed over the papers (and the cash collected so far) to the latter this morning.
Within a week or ten days, we should get a clear picture of those interested in retaining their Club membership. The remaining would have to be dropped. Some others might also have to be eliminated on grounds of indiscipline, being irregular or unpunctual.

The pruning process has already begun, the objective being to retain only those who are serious about the development of the Club and more importantly, in exercising every day.

The next step would be to ratify the membership list in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) being convened shortly.
Meanwhile, five members from the Gangtok-Darjeeling trip turned up today – Yusuf Rassiwala, Monthi Serrao, Banoo Apa, Fehmida Khan and Khatoon Baig. Shekhawat was already back yesterday. Much of the morning was taken up by them narrating and reliving their experiences in the freezing cold up in the Himalayan ranges. Clearly, they were all under-prepared at facing the bone-chilling weather there. Monthi, the hardiest of them all, put it succinctly: “After the intense cold we endured, returning to Mumbai was like landing in a furnace!”
But the general consensus was that this was by far the “best and most enjoyable” of the five out-station trips from the Club so far and there could be no room for any complaint. “We all enjoyed thoroughly,” affirmed Yusuf. “The way the tour was organized from start to end, was simply excellent!” This was an indirect signal to Shekhawat to gear up for an overseas tour – now that we have gained in experience from covering the four extremities of India – North, South, West and East.
Correction: The list of collections and money have since been returned to me. Mrs Monthi wants the money collected to be handed over to her at the end of the month for depositing in the Bank. -- Srichand Arora
Sunita Milwani:
Shekhawat should now classify members as A B C D: A for International Trips, B for National Trips, C for Local Trips and D for no Trip. Accordingly, membership fee for A will be Rs 1000, B Rs 800, C Rs 600 and D Rs 400!!!
