Rising Concerns

Kiran Prakash tries to cheer Khatoon Baig (left)
Khatoon Baig came to the Garden looking intensely apologetic. She insisted she was hospitalized (ref post of December 2) for only three-and-half hours at Hyderabad and was “genuinely sorry” for being a big bother to all on the excursion last week.
Yesterday, when Monthi Serrao had called on Khatoon to wish her well, she chirruped: “I am already well. But I am ashamed to go to the Garden after putting you all to so much trouble in Hyderabad. Because of me, you people could not enjoy your trip.”

She added that her brother, Ibrahim Qureshi and his family had stood rock steady by her in that hour of distress and she shall remain eternally indebted to them for their support.
Meanwhile, concern is mounting on Kiran Arora who apparently, has found no relief from her knee replacement surgery in August. According to hubby Srichand Arora, her pain has actually aggravated since and all his efforts at making her cope and take in a few rounds of the Garden have come to naught.

Today, she did not even accompany him.
“The doctors are also at their wits’ end,” he said. “I have lost count on how many doctors we have seen and how many times the medical prescriptions have been changed. Had there been an iota of relief, all the effort and expenses could be overlooked.

Now the doctors are throwing up their hands. Yesterday, one of them suggested going for pain management. What the hell is that?”
Harbans Kaur, who underwent a similar surgery earlier in the year (and is relatively fine now) had advised Arora not to take his wife’s complaints lightly: “Her pain is genuine. She is not supposed to suffer so much for so long. Maybe there is a problem of fitting in the artificial joint or its size. But no surgeon is ever going to admit that.”
News is also trickling in of our new member, Neelam Choudhary being unwell. She was not to be seen for almost a week now, which is rather strange for someone known to be unusually regular and punctual. Her family too has turned somewhat lax in their attendance. Swati Punjabi now informs us that the lady is diabetic and her sugar levels had of late, shot up alarmingly. She is under medical care and has been advised complete rest for the present.
We wish her speedy recovery.
