Shock and Surprise

Fehmida-Bhaswati getting into fisticuffs
A perfectly peaceful morning was marred by a furious catfight breaking out between two ladies soon after the prayers. Much to everybody’s surprise, Bhaswati Bose and Fehmida Khan tore into each other in a flurry of allegations and counter-allegations, till Yusuf Rassiwala had to step in and separate the two.
Apparently both the ladies had said impolite things against one another, which Shekhawat, Banoo Apa and a few others were supposedly witness to. Banoo Apa was caught completely unawares, neither denying nor accepting the accusations, while an equally dumbstruck Shekhawat simply held his ground, not knowing which way to look.
Dilip Babani starts April Fool drama
Others stood around just as confused, making feeble attempts to calm down the warring females.
Meanwhile one thing led to another and with tempers soaring and invectives flying thick and fast, the two had almost got on to tearing each other’s hair before Yusuf R intervened. He had a “vague inkling” (as he was to state later) that the ladies could be playacting, today being April 1.
It's All Fools' Day, after all
After all, minutes earlier, Dilip Babani and Kiran Prakash had pulled off an April Fool joke over the Club's new Managing Committee assuming charge today.
This happened when Shekhawat was finalizing plans over the Royal Hills picnic (now scheduled for April 3, the day after tomorrow) and Dilip suddenly raising the banner of revolt and declaring that he refused to ‘recognise’ the Managing Committee. A pin drop silence fell, interrupted by Prakash demanding what his problem was. Dilip argued aggressively that when there were so many senior members around, why should we be governed by a set of juniors?
Mallika Kagzi was the only one to smell a rat -- and a big one at that. While Yusuf R, Shekhawat and other seniors tried to make sense of the situation, she bulldozed her way into the group and landed a resounding whack on Dilip’s back. “April Fool!” she announced. Instantly Dilip and Prakash gave the game away and the group burst into uproarious laughter.
Kiran Prakash:
I am surprised Fehmida and Bhaswati have not been spotted by Mumbai's TV and film industry as yet. They are skilled enough to give even established actors a run for their money. Well done!
Lt Col Angad Singh (retd) from Mohali:
If the fisticuffs between Fehmida and Bhaswati were in celebration of 1 April, it was nicely conducted. If it was not, it is a deplorable act. Whatever it may be, no one should cross the limits of decency. We are proud of our members' conduct under all circumstances.
Kiran Prakash responds:
Col Angad Singh-ji, rest assured, that was a grand celebration on the occasion of All Fools' Day.
