‘Kadak Singh’ Party!

Shekhawat extends an invitation to tomorrow's party
If Dilip Babani’s big fat birthday bash yesterday was not fancy enough, there’s another one coming tomorrow, courtesy Shekhawat. He missed hosting the New Year’s Party he had promised (ref post of January 2) and clearly, he is having guilt pangs about it now.
But since January 1 is long gone and a New Year party would be rather untimely at this stage, Siba Prasad Maitra, among others, suggested that he better find another excuse for a celebration. And what could be better for Shekhawat than celebrate his anoinment as Jailor Kadak Singh that he is immeasurably proud and thrilled about?
So excited is Shekhawat about the character he would play at our Annual Function (on January 20) that he never loses an opportunity to reel out his lines to anybody who cares to listen. Arun Patil today offered to escort him to Adarsh Nagar (where many recording studios are located) and let him loose
Woah! Why is he showing his mobile phone to them???
among the film strugglers there. “I am sure they'd feel inspired after watching Shekhawat,” he said.
The trouble with Shekhawat is that the more he is dissuaded from letting the cat out of the bag the more he is encouraged in making his Kadak Singh role public. He does not believe in the element of surprise for a play and like most real life cops in positions of power (eg. jail warden) has become a law unto himself. Today, because of him, everyone in the Garden (and that includes rank strangers and stragglers) knows Jailor Kadak Singh’s lines verbatim!
There is also a flip side to this. As Yusuf Rassiwala observed today, Shekhawat is unwittingly getting us the much-needed “advance publicity”-- somewhat like a movie trailer -- which would ensure maximum footfalls at the Annual Function. For all practical purposes, he is today the face of the Club. He has already piqued public curiosity and since the roles of his co-actors are still under wraps, we may actually benefit from his waywardness.

Bihari Milwani:
Tomorrow there will be no physical exercises, but only 'eating exercises'. We need to close the club's normal activities to enable members attend their office in time.

Lt Col Angad Singh (retd):
It is never too late to make amends - especially on a celebration. That is what Shekhawat has done. The party was worth the wait. Hurrah, Happy New Year to everyone once again!
